I'm Finally Done

with this painting assignment.  Here are the results.  The blue one is kinda spooky and off.  But I like the yellow one, especially because I think it looks a lot like my mommy.

Painting Lolita

Today went very well.  The three graduate students from Chapel Hill came today and played their part as jurors for the student exhibition.  They were some of the coolest people I've met in a while: Friendly, Talented, Beautiful, Enthusiastic, Artistic, and Lively.  I'm very glad that they responded to my email months ago (I didn't know the talent I had happened upon then).  They took their roles as jurors very seriously and meticulously and thoughtfully selected the art to appear in the show.  At the end they had eliminated more than half of the submissions and selected 1st, 2nd, 3rd place as well as three honorable mentions (I know who won what!).  First place is $50.00!  Now you wish you would have entered...

In other news, I'm a really bad painter, but I think this is coming along in its own special way:

this is larger than life, by the way

Don't you think it looks like my mom?  Anyone?
And, yes, there is a reason she is yellow.  We're working with different color schemes right now.  I'll post the finished product in a few weeks.

Love,
Monica

P.S. Two days!

Hodgepodge post of three unnecessary things

1) This is one (of a tentative four) of the "one-a-day paintings" that I am making for David to hang on the naked white walls in his new dorm room:

2) JFF (just for fun), this is what I would look like with blue eyes (a bit freaky):

3) Me trying to entertain but just being awkward, instead:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM & DAD (hope this doesn't ruin it)!

Done with junior year forever

Everything (and more) is in the living room now.

I had my last exam today.  It was my ceramics final and my classmates and I had a group critique.  It lasted for a while, but the worst part was that at the end I had to transport all of my ceramics/pottery back to my apartment (all 3 hundred tons of it).

Need I remind you about my tiny, tiny car?

Anyway, now everything is awkwardly on the coffee table in the living room.  I've also got stuff on the end tables and next to the TV.  Hope the roomies don't mind too much.  Signing off now.  Here's a painting I did on the last day of Drawing II:
